My grandmother, Frances Hubbard, flew to Jesus on Sunday morning July 13, 2014 – she was 102 years old. In October she would have been 103. She did not fear death, but welcomed it’s REWARD. In fact, for the last 2 years she regularly requested that I pray that Jesus would take her Home. For her it was not death to die.
You see, in 1997 I had the amazing privilege of sharing the Gospel with her over the course of a year. On an afternoon in July, while I was visiting her at her home in El Cajon, CA. she said to me from her Lazy Boy, “I believe.” I knelt down at her feet, grabbed her hands and we prayed. Tears flowed freely down our cheeks. Her fear of death left almost immediately and over the last 13 years she has repeatedly told me that she can’t wait to meet Jesus face-to-face and hold His hand to her heart. Well that day has come…
Why Dying Was Not Death for My Grandma: Hebrews 2:14, 15
“Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death He might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.”
My grandma rode the” fiery chariot” of death HOME on Sunday; death was not dying for her, it was the welcome voice of her King beckoning her into His presence. My mother and father were, I believe, waiting for her arrival.
We will all be together again, but not yet…not yet. Our chariot awaits us still…
