Several years ago we updated our logo but we’d like to take the time to explain to you the meaning behind the design.
So here you go.
As you probably know by now, we derive our name from Mark 16:15, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.”
MOVEMENT: The forward facing arrow symbolizes movement, GO into all the world.
In relation to our mission this movement is the mobilizing of churches to GO and proclaim Christ to all the nations.
MOTIVE: This forward facing arrow is also a “greater than” sign. One of our greatest convictions is that in order for a local church to be effective in missions, they must have a motivation that will sustain enduring commitment, namely the greatness of Christ.
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. THEREFORE GO…”
(Matthew 28:18-20) Our mandate to GO…is literally based upon the authority of Christ. Simply put, passion for God in worship must precede the offer of God in missions.
The coaching process helps churches answer the question, “Is our passion for God strong enough to sustain enduring commitment to reaching the nations?”
Dr John Piper says it best, “I’m convinced that a great missionary movement will begin not with a new focus on the world but with a new vision of God—and then the world.”
MULTIPLICATION: If you notice, our logo actually consists of 3 forward facing arrows / “greater than” signs. This speaks to our conviction that God’s missionary enterprise will have multiplied impact as more and more local churches become more and more engaged. More churches mobilized means more nations being reached with the Gospel of our GREAT God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Dr. John Piper has said, “All the resources needed to send and support an army of self-sacrificing, joy spreading ambassadors is already in the church. But we are not giving it…”
Sixteen:Fifteen does not do missions directly. That is, we are not a missionary sending or supporting organization. We do missions indirectly, by guiding local churches across North America through a coaching process that helps them forge a strategic missions vision that fulfills the Biblical mandate to make disciples of all the nations, while taking into account their unique gifts, talents and passions as a local body of Christ. We have learned that such a vision can capture the hearts, minds, and imaginations of entire congregations.
Here are two of the many reasons we serve churches in this way:
We are witnessing an appreciable enhancement of the energy and capacity of God’s missionary enterprise as more and more local churches become meaningfully involved in fulfilling the Great Commission through the missions coaching process. So in order to tell you our story, we have to tell you the story of those we serve. Watch this short video to get a glimpse of the impact the missions coaching process has upon one local church and, subsequently, the world.
Thank you for standing with us as we leverage the missions potential of local churches across North America, unleashing them to make much of Christ among the nations.
