Our Naughty List Has Been Nailed To The Cross

Truth is, we are all naughty, “…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23. But for those who trust in Jesus Christ, the naughty list, which is the record of debt that stood against us — God set aside, nailing it to the cross. God took the record of all our sins and failures that made us debtors to wrath and instead of holding them up in front of our faces as the warrant to condemn us to hell, He put them in the palm of His Son’s hands and nailed them to the cross.

This is Christmas: God vested His Son in baby flesh so that one day on the cross, hands of flesh would hold our naughty list and be pierced. All of His punishment would be counted to all those who despair of saving themselves and trust in Him. Jesus removes our names from the naughty list by satisfying the punishment that the law demanded from sinners.

Colossians 2:13-15 – “And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This He set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in Him.”
